Enriching the Croatian underground chain with a missing link, Out of Place gave birth to its first project signed by one of homelands serious potentials - Volster. Almost ironically first release is pretty much where it should be - in specific boundaries of ominous and straight forward dominion.
Title track Nihilist offers raw pound accompanied by dominating synth stabs which are locked in distortion and crackling. Rounded with atmospheric and panned sweeps this track resembles the polar ice giving way under its weight.
Submissive is a fluid conversation between two elements. Relentless main-sequence is pushing the dialog with its intense and gloomy counterpart that rises and decays in waves. Occasional flanger only builds the pressure and with nicely crafted percussion's this is a solid build-up track for those AM moments when no clock is needed.
On the flip side more complex and a bit subtle,Overwhelming Thoughts is a torrent of icy pad entangled in several bell-like melodies. Powered with a bass-drum shot that has enough momentum to carry everything forward; this is a track with no rigid moments, but a beautiful flow-like feel. If Nihilist is a polar ice analogy, this is surely the sound of the sea moving beneath it.
Closing the release is Departure. More electro oriented and with a dynamic bassline, it is intertwined with rich breaks that culminate with filtered pad sounding detroit-esque and almost old school. A perfect intermission tune
